Tom Donahue Sr. and Tom Donahue Jr. maintain daily hands-on involvement, working with clients and managing the company. It’s this dedication and sense of pride that ensures you always receive exceptional work and service.

In 1934 Gilbert Donahue opened a small letterpress print shop. Back then printing was a true craft, with type set in hot metal from a linotype machine. A typical day’s work included bulletins, cards, flyers and stationary printed on a flatbed or cylinder letterpress.

Mr. Donahue had lived through the great depression and this time made a deep impression on his life. He was always a conservative man who avoided risk and debt. His son, Tom Donahue, joined the business in 1954 and worked with his Father until he took over in 1974. Tom acted on his dreams of expansion and grew the business. He transformed the company from letterpress to litho and moved to a new location in Culver City, then later to its present location at 5716 W. Jefferson Blvd.

In 1983, Tom’s son Tom Jr. joined the company as its first outside sales representative. He discovered the niche market of fine art litho reproductions. With some of the world’s greatest contemporary art showcasing its portfolio, the company quickly blossomed into a major player on the high end LA printing scene. Since that time, its grown from one building to three, and now employs approximately 50 people.

Donahue Printing has come a long way from letterpresses and hot metal. It now features a completely digital workflow with modern presses from two to eight units. It remains family owned, with Tom Donahue Jr. and Tom Sr. leading the company. And the values of 75 years ago—pride, quality, service—continue to guide the company to this day.
